General Requirements:
A minimum of 128 semester credit hours, with a 2.00 cumulative grade point average, earned in at least eight semesters of full-time college-level study. Of the 128 credit hours, 64 must be earned in residence, and no more than 16 may be in courses taken satisfactory/unsatisfactory. Of the eight semesters, four must be spent on the Colby campus, including the final two.

Specific Requirements:
(1) English 115.
(2) Foreign language (see catalogue): Any modern language course numbered above 126 (unless otherwise noted in catalogue) or GK131 or LT131.
(3) Area: one course in each of these areas - arts (A), historical studies (H), literature (L), quantitative reasoning (Q), social sciences (S); 2 courses in natural sciences (N), one of which must include laboratory; and two courses which deal with diversity issues, one as they relate to the United States (U) and one non-U.S. (I).
(4) January Programs: three if in residence for seven or more semesters; two if in residence for six or fewer semesters.
(5) Residence: a full-time student for at least four semesters, to include the entire senior year. A senior is defined as a student who has earned at least 90 credits in at least six full-time semesters.
(6) Wellness: four of seven lectures and the web-based AlcoholEdu course in the first year. Wellness units do not earn academic credit hours.
(7) Major field of study (see catalogue, or consult major department).

Credit Limit:
To register for more than 20 credit hours in a semester a student needs written permission from the faculty advisor(s) and the Dean of Students.

Conflicts:
Without the approval of all instructors involved, registration for two or more courses scheduled to meet concurrently (even in part) is considered a form of academic dishonesty.

Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory:
S/U options must be approved by the academic advisor and filed with the Registrar's office. These options may be revoked before a deadline specified on the "Critical Dates and Deadlines" calendar. Only electives may be taken S/U.

Transfer Credits:
All credits to be transferred toward a Colby degree must be approved in advance by the appropriate College procedure:

(1) Foreign study or domestic exchange: Off-Campus Study Office (Eustis 105)
(2) Other courses (leave of absence or summer school): Registrar's Office (Eustis 201)
