Born in South Dakota, Charles Bassett teaches a wide range of courses in American literature and culture, particularly on the short story, and on the works of Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Much of his recent writing has focused on the fiction of John O'Hara. The Charles W. Bassett Colby Senior Teaching Award is named in his honor.
