Beginning April 28 Colby's Seaverns Field and Alfond Track will be closed for construction.The College is rebuilding the track, installing an artificial turf field, putting in lights for the football field and track area, and working on adjacent track-and-field events.The facility, which is popular with walkers, will be closed to the public through late August, reopening in late summer in time for Colby's football season.

The Physical Plant department is a service oriented organization that provides a wide range of services for the campus community, including housekeeping, grounds, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, snow removal, grounds care, and utility generation and distribution. The Department also provides a number of support services, such as moving, project planning and estimating.

Roberts Row Renovations
With major renovation projects to all older campus housing and all three dining halls completed, Colby is planning upgrades for the Roberts Building and the residence halls on Roberts Row.
Renovations of buildings on Roberts Row will begin with projects in Perkins-Wilson and Pierce. This will be the first phase in a program that will eventually see all Roberts Row buildings, including the Roberts Building itself, renovated.
A program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency named Colby conference champion for use of green electricity. Beyond topping other NESCAC schools, at 115%, Colby has the highest percentage use of green electricity of any college or university in the national competition. All of Colby's purchased electricity comes from renewable sources, the College also has a co-generation turbine on campus, and it buys Renewable Energy Credits as well.
