Women, Swain set to run at NCAA meet
NORTHFIELD, Minn. --- The Colby College women's cross country team and men's runner John Swain head to Minnesota for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday at St. Olaf College.
The women's race will start at noon (EST) and the men begin at 1 p.m. (EST). Devan FitzPatrick, Katrina Gravel, Mandy Ivey, Anna King, Cassie Knight, Emma Linhard, Jen MacDowell, Lane Marder, and Liz Petit will run for the Colby women. The Mules are one of 24 women's teams in the NCAA meet. Colby had consecutive fifth-place finishes at the national meet in 2004 and 2005. Under head coach Deb Aitken, the Mules have been to the NCAA meet in seven of the last 14 years. The Colby women finished fourth at the New England Division III Regional NCAA Qualifier last Saturday. Ivey had a time of 22:12.8 to take 13th place and help the Colby women to their strong finish. King took 19th place in 22:22.1, while Knight was 26th in 22:32.7. Petit placed 39th in 22:45.5 and Linhard was Colby's fifth finisher in 22:52.3. Swain finished in fifth place in the men's NCAAA qualifier race and automatically qualified for the national meet.
