Colby athletes on spring all-academic team
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College had 31 athletes named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Spring All-Academic Team on Thursday.
The NESCAC format for selecting all-academic honors states that a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. Colby's members on the team include: senior men's outdoor track and field athlete Brent Aigler (Medfield, Mass.), senior men's rower Drew Auerbach (Easton, Pa.), senior women's outdoor track and field athlete Chantal Balesdent (Watertown, Mass.), senior women's rower Sarah Bartels (Hanover, N.H.), junior women's outdoor track and field athlete Erin Beasley (Lagrange, Maine), junior men's tennis player Bryan Brown (Bangor, Maine), senior softball player Alaina Clark (Casco, Maine), senior rower Michelle Easton (Andover, Mass.), junior women's rower Sommer Engels (Wellesley, Mass.), senior men's rower Sam Fabens (Ithaca, N.Y.), junior softball player Christine Fitzgerald (Medfield, Mass.), junior women's outdoor track and field athlete Abbie Frederick (North Attleboro, Mass.), senior women's outdoor track and field athlete Sharon Fuller (Old Town, Maine), senior men's outdoor track and field athlete Bob Glotfelty (Greenwich, Conn.), junior men's rower Trevor Hardigan (Savannah, Ga.), senior women's outdoor track and field athlete Anna King (Greenland, N.H.), senior women's tennis player Katherine Koleski (Rochester, Minn.), junior women's outdoor track and field athlete Brianna Kondrat (Eaton, N.H.), junior women's outdoor track and field athlete Jennifer MacDowell (Portland, Maine), senior men's outdoor track and field athlete Dan Moss (Medfield, Mass.), junior women's lacrosse player Heather Nickerson (East Falmouth, Mass.), senior women's outdoor track and field athlete Jamie O'Connell (Westford, Mass.), senior men's tennis player Zack Schuman (Watchung, N.J.), senior men's outdoor track and field athlete Kyle Smith (Seattle, Wash.), junior women's lacrosse player Mary Clare Snediker (New Canaan, Conn.), senior baseball player Nick Spillane (Darien, Conn.), junior softball player Tory Starr (Dunbarton, N.H.), junior women's lacrosse player Lauren Strazzula (Norwell, Mass.), senior men's rower Matt Thomas (Chapel Hill, N.C.), junior women's tennis player Nicole Veilleux (Chocorua, N.H.), and junior men's tennis player Scott Zeller (Newton, Mass.). King was one of only 10 NESCAC athletes to earn all-conference, all-academic, and all-sportsmanship honors this spring.
