What Is the Colby Fund?
![]() Why should I give to the Colby Fund? Annual gifts to the Colby Fund are part of the bedrock of the College's success. Your contribution immediately helps current students by providing scholarship aid, faculty salaries, and books, and by supporting athletics, clubs, and other campus activities. A Colby education currently costs approximately $62,500 per student, but the comprehensive fee this year is $46,100. Gifts to the Colby Fund go directly toward bridging the gap between fees charged to students and the real cost of a year at Colby. Why is participation important? Alumni participation rates are an important factor considered by foundations when awarding grants and by prospective students and their parents. Your participation in the Colby Fund serves as a vote of confidence in a Colby education. Do Colby Fund donations of all sizes have an impact? Last year we raised $4.5 million for Colby in gifts from more than 10,000 alumni, and 50 percent of those gifts were smaller than $100. Your gift also will support Reaching the World: A Campaign for Colby, the most ambitious, comprehensive fund-raising campaign in the College's history. In fact, collectively, Colby Fund donors will make the largest expendable gift to the campaign. Can I play an active role in Colby's success? Yes. You can help by supporting the Colby Fund each year. By making an annual gift, you are investing in the future success of all Colby students by enhancing their educational experience and ensuring a continued tradition of academic excellence.
