If you are using Eudora for an e-mail client, you must update to the latest version (7.1.0.9 for Windows and 6.2.4 for Macintosh) by March 31, 2007 or the program will revert to light mode which does not have spell check or special font features. To check your current version of Eudora on Windows click Help-> About Eudora,  on a Macintosh click Eudora -> About Eudora. If you do not have an up-to-date version of Eudora, follow the instructions below to upgrade.

 
 

Update Windows  Eudora to 7.1.0.9

  1. Be sure you have a recent backup of your system
  2. Open My Computer and click on D:\  If you have a D:\Eudora folder with a current Modified Date, note that your e-mail data is located there for step 11
  3. Close out of all applications.
  4. Click Start – Run and type in the following command \\fileserver1\Software\Windows\Eudora (Similar documentation with screen shots is located here)
  5. Copy Eudora_7.1.0.9.exe to your local computer (desktop is fine)
  6. Double click on the Eudora_7.1.0.9.exe that you copied to your desktop
  7. Click Next to start installation
  8. Click Yes to accept the license agreement
  9. Click Yes after choosing components
  10. Click on Next to accept the destination folder
  11. Choose the correct location for your Eudora data. For most this will be the default location, other may be on the D:\ drive. Click Next
  12. Click Next after reviewing your selections

  13. Click Yes or No to decide if you want a desktop shortcut or not, if you click Yes, you will be prompted to Name the shortcut

  14. Uncheck Aditional Services, click Next

  15. Click Finish and let your system reboot. Send a test e-mail to yourself to ensure that Eudora is working properly. If nothing shows up in your e-mail then it is likely that the data folder you selected is incorrect. You can reinstall Eudora and choose the proper Data folder to correct this problem.

 

Update Macintosh Eudora to 6.2.4

  1. Be sure you have a recent backup of your system
  2. Close out of all applications
  3. Click on Go - Connect to Server and type in the following location smb://fileserver1/Software/Macintosh/Eudora  (Similar documentation with screen shots is located here)                
  4. Copy the Eudora 6.2.4.dmg to your local computer (desktop is fine)
  5. Disconnect from the network folder
  6. Double click Eudora 6.2.4.dmg, the installer should popup automatically
  7. Double click the installer icon

  8. Click Continue twice

  9. Click Agree to accept the license agreement

  10. Select Install Eudora 6.2.4 for the first time and then click on Install

  11. Dialogue box should default to the Applications folder. Click Choose

  12. Warning that you are replacing content appears – you are just replacing the application, not data. Click Replace

  13. Installation should be completed successfully. Send a test email to yourself to ensure that Eudora is working properly
