CMR -Telecom Smart Phone Cell Services
Smart Phone Support On-campus support for Smart Phones is limited and shared within ITS. Colby Media Resources (CMR) supports the equipment, cell service and accounting (departmental charges, etc.). The ITS Faculty Staff Support Center supports the conduit software that syncs Colby's Corporate Time calendar with the device as well as VersaMail email set-up. It's important for users to understand that there is no on-campus support for any other PDA or Smart Phone software, or hardware accessories. Users must turn to service or software providers for such support. Available Support: Requesting a Smart Phone As with all new and upgraded cell services paid for by the College, requests must be approved by the appropriate department head and the Administrative Vice President. Funds must be identified. Smart Phones require both cell phone and broadband data access. Bundled packages begin at $80/month (plus approx $10 to cover taxes, administrative expenses, etc.) for 500 cell minutes and unlimited data time. Higher plans are available. In addition, the Smart Phone device itself must be purchased and activated. One time equipment, new account, shipping and setup charges of between $300 and $400 apply.
