PolycomDetermining if the Phone Jack is Analog or Digital
Campus extensions are either analog (student rooms, fax machines, etc.) or digital (faculty/staff display phones). The two appear to work the same but they are technically different. Colby Polycom conference phones are analog but can be connected to digital lines through a device known as a Konexx.  This plastic box device is included with all conference phones checked out.

Set-Up Instructions
The Polycom SoundStation 2W has two primary parts:  the base and the phone.
The base needs to be connected to power (standard AC outlet) and to an analog phone jack.  (See illustration 1)  The phone has a battery but we suggest connecting it to power.  (See illustration 2) Once connected and powered-up, the base and phone will communicate wirelessly with the phone display indicationg ready. (See illustration 3)

PolySetUp

The base and phone must be no further than 150 feet apart for successful wireless communication.  The display has signal strenght indicators.  (Illustration directly above)

Poly MicsOptional Extension Mics

For larger conference rooms and/or groups, extension microphones may be desired. Plug the microphone cables into the slots under the Mini Mics, and run each one to the plugs on each side of the Polycom Phone. (Illustration left)

PolyKonexx

Connecting the Konexx for Digital Lines

The Polycom unit itself is an analog device so in order to use it with a digital line (those in faculty/staff offices with display phones), an interface is needed.  The Konexx device provides that interface.  It must be connected between the digital line and the Polycom Base unit.

DO NOT use the Konexx if connecting to an analog line.

The Phone Keypad
The keypad of the phone is quite straightforward. The ON/OFF button provides dialtone. (Illustration right)

Placing a Call
Turn phone 'ON'   for dialtone.  Dial your number.  Remember to dial 9 if placing an off campus call.
