During the spring of 2008, US Cellular will be upgrading their voice mail system. The system will include improved Message Waiting notification, easy-to-use voice mail prompts and navigation, and enhanced security.  The upgrade for all Colby cell phones provided through USC will begin March 19, 2008 and run through April 9, 2008.  The old voice mail system will NOT be available after April 9, 2008.

All messages received on or after March 19, will be sent to the new voice mailboxes. Saved messages on the previous system can be accessed for 14 days after the upgrade by pressing option 7 from the new main menu.

Specific instructions for the new voice mail system follow.  Personal assistance from US Cellular can be obtained at 1-888-944-9400, select 0 at menu.

 

To Set Up Your Voice Mailbox

  Action

1.       Access your mailbox by dialing *86 or your 10-digit phone number + SEND.

2.       If prompted for a password, use 9999. You’ll change this initial password during setup.

3.       Follow these prompts to set up your mailbox:

a.       Choose English or Spanish as your language preference

b.       Set up your 4–10-digit password†

c.        Record your voice signature

                        d.         Record or select your greeting

4.       Start using your mailbox. You can also customize mailbox preferences by pressing 3 for greetings or 4 for personal options.

† Choosing a secure password:
To protect your privacy, the Voice Mail system doesn’t allow “easy-to-guess” passwords, including repeating digits (3333), consecutive digits (1234 or 4321) or ascending or descending even/odd numbers (2468 or 7531). Your choice of a unique password will be an important step in protecting your Voice Mail service.

 

To Access Your Voice Mailbox

1.       Call into the Voice Mail system—
From your wireless phone:
Access your mailbox by dialing *86 or your 10-digit phone number + SEND.

From any other phone:
Dial your wireless phone number. Interrupt your greeting by pressing *.

2.       Follow the prompts to enter your password or start using your mailbox.
 

Key Features to Customize Your Voice Mailbox

Skip Password—Your Voice Mail is set up to prompt you for your password each time you access your mailbox from any phone. This protects your privacy. The Skip Password option, when turned “On”, allows direct access to your Voice Mail from your wireless phone without entering a password. Keep “Off” for password protection.
