Full-time, Fiscal Year Position/40 hours per week
The Student Financial Services technician is primarily responsible for the cashier function, answering phone calls and written inquiries from students, parents and staff, and oversight of student workers. The successful candidate must gain a full working knowledge of all facets of a student’s financial matters, and limited knowledge of Colby’s other financial services to the extent quality assistance can be provided. Duties will include responsibility for the posting of payments, and financial aid adjustments to student accounts and related general ledger accounts.
Required qualifications include: a High School degree required, excellent organizational and customer service skills supported by prior experience, both written, phone and in person; cashier experience for both transactions and bank deposit preparation; general accounting knowledge (account reconciliation experience); computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word, reporting and word merge (Outlook a plus); must handle confidential information with discretion and have the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Desired skills and qualifications include: Post-secondary education preferred, Bursar and/or financial aid experience; strong attention to detail and initiative in assuming responsibilities; ability to multitask in a service environment; willingness to work in a team environment as well as an independent thinker; initiative to continue learning by on campus and off campus training; ability to communicate clearly and document appropriate detail.
