Music Department - Two Year Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching/Research Fellowship
Date:  10/01/2008

The Music Department at Colby College invites applications for a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching-Research Fellowship in Non-Western music, beginning September 1, 2009. The fellow will teach two courses per year in non-Western music: one at the introductory level (World Music or a general survey of a small number of non-Western music traditions) and one at the upper level (most likely a seminar in the theory, history and performance practice of the successful candidate’s area of specialization). The fellow will also conduct individual research, and work with assigned Colby faculty mentors to develop a strong teaching and research profile. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Musicology, Music Theory, or Ethnomusicology.

Applicants should send a letter of application, a resume that outlines their academic and performance history and any relevant teaching experience, examples of recent concert programs, copies of recorded or videotaped performances, a detailed description of courses the candidate might offer, and three recent letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin on February 1, 2009 and continue until the position is filled.

Applications should be sent to:
