Music Department - Artist in Residence
Date:  10/01/2008

The Music Department of Colby College invites applications for an Artist in Residence for the spring semester of the 2009-2010 academic year, starting February 1, 2010.

Though applications are welcomed from persons of any suitable area of specialization, candidates who are accomplished performers and teachers in jazz or a non-Western musical genre are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to offer two public programs during the residency (formal campus concerts or lecture recitals, or a combination of the two), offer private or group lessons in his/her performance specialty to a small number of students, and teach one general survey course for non-majors that covers the basic history, theory, and practice of his/her performance tradition.

Candidates should send a resume that outlines their academic and performance history and any relevant teaching experience, examples of recent concert programs, copies of recorded or videotaped performances, three letters of recommendation, and a detailed description of courses and concerts that the candidate might offer. Review of applications will begin February 6, 2009 and will continue until the position is filled.

Applications should be sent to:
