Biology - Neurobiology, Tenure Track

Colby College is seeking a Neurobiologist to fill a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Biology to begin September 1, 2009. A strong background in molecular techniques is expected, and the use of comparative animal models is desirable. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Teaching involves the equivalent of three courses per year, each with laboratory.  The successful candidate will teach the general introductory neurobiology course, alternating with other neurobiology faculty; another course will be an advanced course in the candidate’s field of neurobiology specialty. S/he will also be involved in our introductory biology sequence in some years and in other years will teach another advanced or intermediate-level course. An active research program, including supervision of undergraduate research, will be expected. An attractive startup package is available.  Familiarity with liberal arts colleges, teaching experience, and postdoctoral experience are desirable.

Women candidates will be considered for a Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professorship, which includes dedicated annual research funds and salaries for undergraduate research assistants.
