These base camp trips are located in the Baxter State Park in Northern Maine. Katahdin is Maine's highest mountain and will require a strong effort to hike to the summit in one, full day. Participants should be comfortable with camping and limited amenities. Activities will include strenuous day-hikes in the general area. Equipment needed includes a sleeping bag,sleeping pad, mid-sized day-pack and sturdy well-broken in footwear. Transportation is by minivan.  Katahdin A will be camping on the east side of the park and Katahdin B on the west side.  More information about the park can be found at the Baxter State Park Web site.
