Fr. PhilFather Phil Tracy - Catholic Chaplain

Fr. Phil Tracy was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. He is a true Maine-iac, born and raised in South Portland. He has a degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy from that little old school in Lewiston, and a Pontifical degree in theology from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

He has had a wide range of pastoral experiences during his priesthood, including being a pastor in a small farming community on the Canadian border, a chaplain at the Maine State Prison, and the Catholic Chaplain at Bates and Bowdoin Colleges. In addition to being the Colby Catholic Chaplain, he is the pastor of the Parish of the Holy Spirit. This is the largest parish in the diocese, and is comprised of three formerly independent churches in Waterville.

Fr. Phil enjoys ministering to college communities and is refreshed by the passion and intellectual inquiry of students and staff. His experience at Colby has been deeply rewarding. He does his best to be present on campus and to attend college activities. Through the marvel of modern technology, he is only an email or a phone call away. He has a standing invitation for students to invite themselves out for pizza courtesy of the Bishop's generosity. Please take a moment to introduce yourself when you see him. If you would like to become involved in the life of the parish, there are many opportunities available and Fr. Phil is very willing to discuss them with you.
