Rooms with a View

10 am

In conjunction with Freshwater Arts in Waterville and Waterville Main Street, the museum offers Rooms with a View on Saturday, July 12, at 10 am. It will begin with a tour of the museum galleries, focusing on artists' arrangements and depictions of three-dimensional space, followed by a diorama-making workshop at Freshwater Arts. The event is free and open to all ages, but attendance is limited and pre-registration is required. To register, call 207.680.2055.

Film Screening: Chuck Close

In conjunction with the Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) and the Art Kaleidoscope Foundation, the Colby College Museum of Art presents director-producer Marion Cajori’s film, Chuck Close. This feature-length documentary follows Close as he creates a self-portrait from Polaroid to final stroke, and he and his subjects—family, fellow artists, friends—provide insight into his work and their own, rendering a collective portrait of a whole creative generation.

Carolyn Muzzy Director and Chief Curator Sharon Corwin will discuss the exhibition Chuck Close: Self-Portrait/Scribble/Etching Portfolio, 2000. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a screening of Chuck Close, a full-length documentary about the artist by director-producer Marion Cajori.

Folk Music Concert: Ladies of the Lake

2 pm

Ladies of the Lake specialize in traditional Celtic instrumental music and ballad singing. With an extensive repertoire of tunes from Ireland, New England and Canada, their performances include music on the fiddle, flute, tin whistle, accordion, guitar, bodhran and piano.
