Freshwater Arts and the Colby Museum will host a community mask-making event on Sunday, October 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. First, take a tour of the Museum collection to view interesting depictions of the face in art. Then head over to Freshwater Arts to make your very own mask! This free event is open to all ages, but attendance is limited and preregistration is required.

American School: American Art and Pedagogy

This fall, the Museum will hold a symposium highlighting outstanding research in American art and education. American School: American Art and Pedagogy, which is supported by the Henry Luce Foundation, will begin Friday, October 9, with an evening keynote lecture by artist Fred Wilson, followed by a daylong symposium Saturday, October 10. Symposium speakers include Wendy Bellion, Huey Copeland, Rachael Ziady DeLue, Elizabeth Hutchinson, David M. Lubin, Richard Meyer, Angela L. Miller, and Kenneth John Myers, with Donna M. Cassidy moderating.
The symposium is free and open to the public.

Kolosko-Dimow Duo

The Kolosko-Dimow Duo draws on
elements of classical music, world music and jazz in their composing
and arranging. This concert will feature works from their new
recording, Border Crossings. These will include Dimow’s Klezmer Suite, Kolosko’s Nayarit Suite (inspired by the novel The Pearl, by John Steinbeck) and the duo’s collaborative arrangements of the Afro Sambas
by the legendary Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell. Colby applied guitar
faculty, Carl Dimow, appears here as flutist with critically acclaimed
classical guitarist Nathan Kolosko.

Merce Cunningham Tribute

Lively Spaces Performance

Lively Spaces will perform their dance program at the Colby College Museum of Art on July 30th from 1 to 2 pm.
Lively Spaces supports full access to learning in and through the arts for a diverse group of multi-aged students enrolled in the George J. Mitchell School's After School Program in Waterville, Maine. The program engages its participants by fostering active learning through the arts and working directly with objects in the Museum Collection, as well as, dance/movement and theatre instruction.
Please meet at the entrance of the Museum.
