Colby faculty members are encouraged to use the Museum and its collection in their teaching. Senior thesis projects, term papers, student-organized exhibitions, presentations, and studio art projects may all be based upon works in the Museum’s exstensive collection.

Colby faculty also take advantage of the Museum’s spaces for a variety of uses, including finding a quiet place to reflect.

For Colby Faculty

Classes may meet in the Museum galleries or in the archive study room to examine and discuss works of art. The Mirken Curator of Education is available to offer advice about using the Museum in your teaching.

The Museum’s Teaching Gallery comprises more than 1,000 square feet of exhibition space that can be used by Colby faculty and students wishing to curate exhibitions related to their coursework. The Teaching Gallery is available as the museum’s exhibition schedule allows.

Apply Online for an Exhibition

The Museum’s Teaching Gallery comprises more than 1,000 feet of exhibition space that can be used by Colby faculty and students wishing to curate exhibitions related to their coursework. The Teaching Gallery is available as the museum’s exhibition schedule allows. The Museum reserves the right to cancel Teaching Gallery exhibitions when all deadlines are not met.

Reserving a Space in the Museum for a Class or Meeting

Reserve a Space

Individual galleries within the Museum can be reserved for a class or meeting related to the artworks displayed there. Additionally, the museum's Archive Study Room can be reserved by professors wishing to show their students artwork from the Museum collection that is not currently on display. The Archive Study Room will accommodate up to 25 students.
