Library periodical and newspaper subscriptions support the scholarly, information and cultural needs of the Colby community. Requests for new titles are reviewed each fall semester with new subscriptions entered in January. In addition to budgetary concerns, a number of criteria are considered in evaluating a new subscription: its potential impact on the curricular needs of the College, the standing of the publication in its field, and where the publication is indexed are examples. Whenever possible, electronic access is preferred over paper. Please assist us in being as specific as possible as to the importance of the title you are submitting for consideration on the form below.
Because serials represent a long-term, continuing commitment of Library funds for subscription costs, processing, and housing, priority is given to subscribing to titles which; relate directly to the curriculum, fulfill students' research needs, assist faculty in course preparation, and are indexed in printed or electronic services owned by the Library. The Library acquires specialized titles intended primarily for faculty research on a highly selective basis.
Please provide any documentation you have about this title, for example: a review, a sample issue, publisher's announcement, recommendation from a colleague, or a table of contents. Send documentation to: Toni Katz, Assistant Director for Technical Services, Miller Library.
NOTE: the Library Liaison for the department/program will review the information regarding your suggestion and make a recommendation for purchase.
