  • Humanity in Action sponsors six summer programs on minority and human rights issues in Europe and the United States. They will select a total of 60 enrolled sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates from U.S. colleges and universities to participate in the 2008 programs. They welcome applicants from all academic disciplines who are actively seeking new perspectives on minority issues. The 2008 summer programs will take place in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, New York, Paris, and Warsaw. HIA pays virtually all of the costs of participation. Humanity in Action (HIA) is a New York-based not-for-profit organization founded in 1998. HIA believes that an important test of a genuine democracy is how it treats its racial, ethnic, and religious minorities. It also believes that the commitment to democratic values and the protection of minorities cannot be taken for granted in the United States and Europe.
